Friday, Sydney Football Stadium, 7:45pm
Referee: Ben Cummins
The Roosters are coming off the bye and get five of their six State of Origin stars back after still managing to beat the Bulldogs without them at their last start. The only Origin player missing is suspended forward Nate Myles. The Titans, on the other hand, are teetering on the edge of losing their place in the top eight. They have lost five of their last six games - their only win coming against a Storm side that was missing all of its Origin stars. Injuries to playmaker Scott Prince and forward leader Luke Bailey have already hurt the Titans and the continued unavailability of those stars is set to hurt them even more over the coming weeks.
The Roosters will aim to put the Titans out of the game early. They will look to play the game at a fast pace, get the Titans on the back foot and use their speed and power to score tries out wide and increase the pressure on an opponent that is already feeling the pinch. If the tries don't come that way, there is always the kicking game that has brought the Roosters more tries this season than kicks have brought any other team. The Titans have got spirit, but this is shaping up as a long night for them.
LATE MAIL
Roosters rookie Jake Friend retains his bench berth for
tonight's match against Gold Coast, with Anthony Cherrington the
player to drop out of the 18-man squad. The Titans boast
just two wins from their past eight matches, and with eight
first-graders injured, coach John Cartwright will blood winger
Jordan Rapana, while utility back Shannon Walker has also been
called up from the Toyota Cup.
