Parramatta captain Nathan Cayless has ensured another heated battle with Melbourne today after questioning whether the "ripper" tackle which cost him a Kiwi tour of Britain and France was a deliberate ploy.

The Eels face the Storm for the first time since their controversial grand final qualifier last season, the latest instalment in an ongoing feud between the clubs. On that occasion, Cayless suffered serious pectoral and biceps muscle injuries after his arm was pulled backwards by opposing prop Brett White.

Jarryd Hayne was accused of diving while the Storm claimed the Eels deliberately tried to aggravate Billy Slater's knee injury.

As the teams prepare to face off at Parramatta Stadium, Cayless suggested White was lucky to escape a stint on the sideline over the incident.

"A bit more could have been done about it," Cayless told The Sun-Herald. "The judiciary could have looked at it but that wasn't to be.

"It's all fine now, it's all healed. He's the only one that knows whether it's deliberate or not. Let's leave it at that."

Cayless, who will mark his 200th game when he plays the Storm, won't get a chance to confront White today, as he is one of nine Storm players on Origin duty, but he concedes there is plenty of feeling between the clubs.

"We seem to be building up a few rivalries at the moment," Cayless said. "We've got one now with Cronulla [following last weekend's controversial loss] and the Storm. The NRL competition is so tough and it's so competitive, you just want to win so badly."

Fellow forward Nathan Hindmarsh summed up the rivalry by saying:

"I dare say it is going to continue, even though they have a few players out. The last two or three years have been good contests, so not too much is going to change."
