Blood may be thicker than water, but is it thicker than the premiership hopes of two Sydney clubs? This is the dilemma facing Robbie Farah, whose brother, Eddie - a sports physician - has been helping the Wests Tigers game-breaker cope with a painful hip injury.
Trouble is, Eddie works as the physio for South Sydney - and with the Tigers and Rabbitohs slated to meet in a finals-deciding game this weekend, younger brother Robbie is suspicious he could receive some dodgy advice.
"I think I will leave him alone this week," Robbie said, tongue-in-cheek. "We're both fighting for a top eight spot so I don't know if I trust him,"
The Farah boys, who live beneath their parents' duplex home in Campsie, are close, and, in reality, Robbie has complete faith in the advice he receives from Eddie, who helped the hooker make a rapid recovery from a knee reconstruction.
"It is pretty convenient for me to have someone who knows how to deal with injuries so close," he said. "He knows what he is talking about."
Farah took painkilling injections before playing against Cronulla last Saturday, but the most effective cure was kicking the winning field goal.
The euphoria of triumph has worn off now, and the hip pointer injury remains a pain.
"But I feel better now than I did this time last week," he said. "It would help if I rested for a week, but this is the time of year when you just don't want to miss any games."
