Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett has forecast team changes in the wake of the Broncos' 32-18 victory over North Queensland.

Bennett gave a scathing assessment of his side's performance despite running in five first-half tries to seal the match, including a brace to second-rower Sam Thaiday. Only two players received special praise and he promised heads would roll when he named his side to take on Cronulla this Friday at Suncorp Stadium.

"I was happy with the captain [Darren Lockyer], I was happy with the fullback [Karmichael Hunt]," Bennett said. "It is a part of the issue, a real commitment to get involved.

"A lack of discipline with a few players doing silly things. A bit more desperation in defence.

"I think they are just happy playing for the Broncos, my intentions are to make them unhappy right now."

Bennett said star centre Justin Hodges would return to the side but refused to nominate which players were under pressure.

Lockyer, rested for the last nine minutes of the match, agreed with the sentiments of his coach.

"We have got a lot to work on," he said. "It was a pretty sombre mood in the dressing room.

"We realise the second half was pretty ordinary, 26-0 at half-time.

"We probably didn't play our best football, then we probably got a bit lucky.

"We just want to get better every week and I don't know whether we did improve much on last week."
