Veteran Sydney Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello has been named to make his long-awaited return from injury in Friday night's NRL clash with St George Illawarra.
The former Test and NSW star hasn't played in first grade since being diagnosed with a bulging disc in his neck in June following a series of back problems.
He played 50 minutes for Newtown in the NSW Cup last Saturday and a shoulder injury to Amos Roberts has prompted Roosters coach Brad Fittler to rush Minichiello back into first grade for the crucial SFS match.
"He provides us with something we've missed a lot," Fittler said today.
"He's a high-quality player. He's just got that spark and ability to turn half chances (into something).
"We haven't had that. We've lacked that punch from our own end."
The winners on Friday's could potentially secure a top four-finish and home final.
