THE National Rugby League will take no action against St George Illawarra coach Nathan Brown over his comments encouraging all clubs to turn games against the premier, Melbourne Storm, into a "bloodbath".

NRL chief executive David Gallop said while Brown's comments were "certainly an emotional outburst", they did not warrant a fine because they did not question the impartiality of the officials.

Gallop was content to limit his response to speaking to Dragons' chief executive Peter Doust, who he said had agreed the comments "were over the top and unnecessary".

But Melbourne chief executive Brian Waldron labelled the NRL's decision not to fine Brown as "extraordinary" .

The Storm yesterday flew to Auckland for its round-20 clash against New Zealand Warriors tomorrow.

The war of words sparked by Monday night's fiery clash between the two sides continued, with Waldron claiming that Brown was attempting to "incite a riot" the next time that the two sides met.
