CRONULLA halfback Brett Kimmorley said he was shocked to find out that he may be traded, perhaps mid-season, in a deal brokered by his manager, George Mimis.

Mimis cost Kimmorley hundreds of thousands of dollars when he tried to hang out for more money during Kimmorley's contract negotiations with the Sharks last year, and this week the Herald revealed Mimis was putting out feelers for a three-way deal involving Kimmorley switching to St George Illawarra, Ben Ross going to England, and Jason Ryles moving to the Sharks.

"It blew me away … it is coming from something," Kimmorley said yesterday.

"I don't know how far away something is going to happen. It is pretty disappointing, I just play week by week but every time the phone rings I am a bit nervous."

When asked if player agents had a conflict of interest when they represented more than one player at a club, or players in the same position, Kimmorley said: "I went through that last year, with so many players somewhere it will always happen, especially with the huge numbers of players on their books. But as long as you are happy with the result I suppose."

Kimmorley yesterday had one of his best games of the season, running more with the ball than he usually does. His defence, especially on the right side of the field, was superb and, along with Paul Gallen, he was one of the best players on the field. He said he would like to finish his contract with the Sharks, but acknowledged that "contracts aren't contracts any more" and days of signing with a handshake, like he did when he went to Melbourne Storm, are long gone.

Kimmorley ended up signing for two years midway through last season, thinking he would finish his career at the Sharks. But on the field yesterday the Sharks had new midyear signings Danny Nutley, from the Roosters, and Terence Seu Seu, who had been cast adrift from Newcastle.

Kimmorley was particularly annoyed he had been sidelined from any backroom manoeuvring and said: "If something happens I would love to know first." Kimmorley said Mimis had been working on getting him more experience in the media for a post-career option and if the club swap came about he would have to seriously think about it.

"I would have to look at the circumstances, if you get a tap on the shoulders you are not overly wanted. If, as a player, I got a better offer and wanted to go, I would look at it.

However, Kimmorley said both Mimis and coach Ricky Stuart said they didn't know much.
