MELBOURNE Storm prop Brett White does not know what all the fuss was about following the fiery performance this week of Bulldogs' superstar Sonny Bill Williams. Aggression and defiance in the face of opposition forwards were typical traits of a Williams' performance, according to White, and are certainly no less than what he expects to see from him when the teams clash at Olympic Park on Saturday night.
Reportedly looking to get out of the final four years of his five-year, $2 million deal with the Bulldogs to chase more money in rugby union, Williams has been through an unsettling period. His actions against Cronulla on Monday night when he was involved in two heated exchanges, including throwing a punch at Ben Ross, were largely seen as an insight into his frustrations.
But White, who watched the game, said Williams was "known for his aggressive style of football". "I don't think there was any change," White said. "He's always been that aggressive player, trying to intimidate other forwards. I don't know whether he's frustrated or whatever I think he's always been that sort of player, that if something happens he'll stand up and not back down. That's the style of player he is and we expect the same sort of thing (on) Saturday."
The Storm yesterday named Greg Inglis back at five-eighth for the National Rugby League round-12 clash, after he missed last Saturday night's 15-10 win over South Sydney because of tendonitis in his knee.
Storm high performance unit manager Mary Toomey said Inglis, who still has some minor soreness in the left knee, had been on modified training and would be assessed today.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs named Nick Youngquest at fullback just days after a mid-season swap with the Wests Tigers. The Bulldogs, which missed out on Jeff Lima and Adam Blair when the pair
re-signed with the Storm earlier this month, also produced a signing coup yesterday by securing Queensland state-of-origin prop Ben Hannant on a three-year deal.
Hannant has been in sensational form for Brisbane this year, culminating in his debut origin selection, but has agreed to link with the Bulldogs until the end of 2011.
■Parramatta star Krisnan Inu will make his comeback from a severe ankle injury when the Eels travel to face the Broncos on Friday night. Inu injured his ankle early in the opening round win over the Bulldogs but has made a successful comeback.
