Highlight
Their game against fierce rivals Tonga, in the group stage,
shaped as a real crowd-pleaser - and that was how it turned out.
The crowd loved it so much that after Samoa's 20-12 win they
stormed the field to greet their idols.
Lowlight
It looked a formality that Samoa would progress to the
semi-final qualifier by beating Ireland, but they got a huge shock
when the Irish knocked them over. The Samoans bombed a couple of
early opportunities, the Irish got a sniff - and that was that.
Will we ever see your face again?
The Samoans have a fairly sizeable older brigade that will soon
be moving on from this level, but classy young forwards Lagi Setu
and Ben Te'o shape as leaders for the team in the future.
The crystal ball
The potential for them to become a significant force at Test
level is there, but they have got to find a way of getting their
best team playing together a lot more often than they have been
able to in the past. Next year's South Pacific Cup will help.
Lardy's lobster
Took them to lose at the semi-final stage, but they didn't get
out of their group.
