Mark Gasnier and Jarryd Hayne have been named in the NSW Origin side for Origin II, despite fitness and judiciary clouds hanging over their heads.
Gasnier will undergo a fitness test later in the week on the hamstring problem that sidelined him from the Dragons match against South Sydney on Sunday, while Hayne faces suspension for a dangerous throw.
Canberra's Joel Monaghan is on standby for the pair.
Newcastle pair Kurt Gidley and Steve Simpson are the only new faces from the Blues side that won last month's series opener.
Gidley replaces Ben Hornby, while Simpson comes onto the interchange bench for the injured Ben Cross, with Craig Fitzgibbon to start in the front row.

Queensland team named
Darren Lockyer returns from injury to lead a Queensland team with four personnel changes when it attempts to level the State of origin series at Suncorp Stadium on June 11.
Lockyer is back at five eighth for the Maroons after proving the fitness of his troublesome knee in a match-winning performance for Brisbane over Parramatta in the NRL on Saturday.
Broncos winger Darius Boyd comes onto the wing after Justin Hodges was today suspended for six matches for a dangerous throw on Parramatta's Mark Riddell, with Brent Tate moving in a spot to take over at centre.
Lockyer's return forces Origin I five eighth Karmichael Hunt to the bench, ousting utility P.J. Marsh from the squad.
Veteran NZ Warriors captain Steve Price returns to Origin action after a recent comeback from a knee injury and Carl Webb has been dropped to make way.
In the other change, Ashley Harrison comes onto the bench in place of the axed Jacob Lillyman.
Queensland: Billy Slater, Darius Boyd, Greg Inglis, Brent Tate, Israel Folau, Darren Lockyer (capt), Johnathan Thurston, Steve Price, Cameron Smith, Petero Civoniceva, Michael Crocker, Sam Thaiday, Dallas Johnson. Interchange: Karmichael Hunt, Ben Hannant, Nate Myles, Ashley Harrison.
Gasnier confident of being fit for Origin II
NSW centre Mark Gasnier is confident of recovering from a hamstring injury in time to play in next week's State of Origin II at Suncorp Stadium.
The St George Illawarra captain suffered a slight tear in his hamstring last Wednesday but said he was recovering well and had already started light jogging again.
"I've progressed a little bit,'' Gasnier said.
"I'm pretty confident and I'm more thankful than anything, thankful the selectors and (NSW coach) Craig (Bellamy) have given me that amount of time to prove my fitness.''
Canberra centre Joel Monaghan joined the NSW camp in Sydney today as cover for Gasnier.
Meanwhile, Parramatta star Jarryd Hayne said he was hopeful of being cleared of a dangerous throw charge which is threatening to rule him out of next Wednesday's match.
Hayne will fight the charge at tomorrow night's judiciary.
Bellamy said he was still considering several other players to fill the position if Hayne is ruled out.
Newcastle pair Kurt Gidley and Steve Simpson joined the NSW squad today, both earning call ups after missing game one in Sydney.
NSW hold a 1-0 series lead and can secure their first series win in three years with a win in Brisbane.
